Buu Chi (1948 to 2002), a descendent of the last Vietnamese Emperor in Hue, is a self taught artist. A lawyer by training, he was imprisoned a year in 1972 by the then South Vietnamese Government for his leadership of the anti-government student movement and anti-war activities. His drawings on the horrors of war were widely published in the West. His works are influenced by Giacometi and Dali and document the absurdity of human existence.This work was acquired directly from the artist by the Art-2 Gallery in Singapore before being sold to a private collection.
