Nghiem is widely regarded as one of the 4 pillars of modern Vietnamese art. Utilising Vietnamese folklores and architectures of traditional village community houses, Nghiem developed an unique language of his own in his paintings. This painting is in excellent condition and based on the legend of Giong where a boy used a magical bamboo to drive off the invaders to protect the homeland.
